Bayside Boules Club - Alden Park - since late 2019

  Apologies for the delay in post this blog.  I was away but by all accounts not missed, which is how it should be!! Singles Matchplay Finals: Congratulations firstly to Ciaran for the very successful Singles Matchplay.  Approx. 40 players entered the competition from our 50+ player body. Despite a couple of minor glitches it proves to be a great event bringing the players and others together and allowing us to get to know each other better. Ciaran, astutely, organised qualifier rounds before creating the four tiers for the knockout phases.  With the exception of the Tier 1 final, for which a trophy is awarded, all the tiers had  prizes of equal value for the winner and runner-up.  Thanks again Ciaran. Many of the matches had an audience which related to the fact that the App allowed the players to see the fixtures in advance and the results afterwards.  Matchplay: The group stages of the matchplay has been completed as of Friday 14th April.  Not all fixtures were completed but with gentle exhortations from Ciaran the frenetic last week got most games played.  With forty players involved it was a great feat and Ciaran's algorithms were whirring away in the background identifying the qualifiers for the four-tier, knockout groups.  [ brackets courtesy of Ciaran] Tier 1: Tier 2: Tier 3: Tier 4: The Finals for each group will take place on either Sat 29th or Sun 30th April.  Each Group Winner will be presented with a prize with the winner of Tier 1 receiving the overall Trophy.  Our thanks to Ciaran Walsh for all his efforts on our behalf.   Group A Monday Competition: [courtesy of Ciaran] And another league is done. Chris' consistently excellent form wins the day as he's crowned Singles Champion for the second time. He did it in style, too, with eighteen 13s to boot. Congratulations Chris! It was a tight competition with Joan and Sean just three points back and the top six all grouped within eight points. Joan had an impressive debut edging second place from Sean on the number of  13s scored.  Kudos to Sean on a serious title defence effort. Group A:   Wednesday Feb. 22nd Group A:  Monday Feb. 27th The future of Boules in Bayside: The B.B.C. with Age and Opportunity Grant-aid  have purchased a complete set of Boules with a view to post-Covid involvement of the senior classes in Bayside Primary Schools with Boules/Petanque.   We have notified the Senior school of the imminent supply and our desire to support them with equipment and advice.   We have adjusted the timetable to reflect our requirements alongside potential school use.  We will have a formal hand-over of gear  in the near future and we will use the gear ourselves during school holiday times for Open Days etc. 2023 Singles  Matchplay is underway: There has been a great response to Ciaran's request for expressions of interest in the first matchplay of 2023.  Fo...
