118th Post: More Tiers than Tears !!!

 Matchplay:

The group stages of the matchplay has been completed as of Friday 14th April.  Not all fixtures were completed but with gentle exhortations from Ciaran the frenetic last week got most games played.  With forty players involved it was a great feat and Ciaran's algorithms were whirring away in the background identifying the qualifiers for the four-tier, knockout groups.  [ brackets courtesy of Ciaran]

Tier 1:

Tier 2:

Tier 3:

Tier 4:

The Finals for each group will take place on either Sat 29th or Sun 30th April.  Each Group Winner will be presented with a prize with the winner of Tier 1 receiving the overall Trophy.  Our thanks to Ciaran Walsh for all his efforts on our behalf.

Monday Group A Competition:

Chris Grehan was the worthy winner of the Tom Walsh Trophy, for the previous competition, which was belatedly presented to him last Monday by the previous winner Sean Jenkins at the pistes.  Congratulations Chris.

Play in the new competition has already commenced as demonstrated in these photos....

Friday Night Boules:

Following the success of last year's inaugural Friday Night Fun Boules, as organised by Ciaran, he envisages a similar event this year to be discussed at the next committee meeting. Pic from Friday Aug 19th 2022.

Mike Deegan Memorial Trophy:

This annual singles fixture combining St. Anne's Boules with Bayside Boules was won last year by Nigel O'Mahony.  We will be meeting shortly to choose a date / venue to play this year's event.

Cavan Petanque Club Invitation:

Billy Gleadell, currently President of the IPA and founder member of Cavan Petanque Club, has invited a group from Bayside Boules Community to come to Belturbet on Sun August 20th.  Their club is on the grounds of Belturbet Golf Club with the club facilities available.  We will start the organisation of the trip at our next committee meeting.

Bastille Day 2023

We hope to have our usual 'Fun Boules Day' on Saturday 15th July [ the following day!]

IPA Triples Competition:

Tom D has entered the 2023 IPA Triples Competition due to be played in Bushy Park on Sat. 22nd April.
He will be joined by two other players who were looking for a third player to make up a team.  Ideally we'd have a team or teams from Bayside taking their chances at the national level qualifiers, at least, in coming years.
