Bayside Boules Club - Alden Park

Bayside Boules Community.  [ Dependent on Government Advice for sports like Tennis and Golf where you use your own equipment and stay apart.  Starting provisionally on Monday May 18th ] Text me 0874115145 to have your name included for one or all the days...first come first served.  I've slightly changed the times to 1 hour slots with 15 mins. grace for changeovers.  I will rake the surfaces during the days at intervals or bring your own rake. Possible Timetable for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday Boules if the Government ease restrictions on May 5th or May 11th.  Text me your preferences for one or more days.  If you are unable to play on your chosen slot just WhatsApp the group and somebody else might be able to play in your place. I hope this arrangement allows some play until restrictions ease further.  The Singles play is to allow for the 2 Metre restriction.   Family members can play alongside on a pistes, but for the optics for the passing public make the 2 Metre rulin

Ciaran has upgraded and updated the scoring sheet for our competitions.  It is "All Singing and Dancing" now ...very adaptive....this is a small screenshot that'll be posted on Competition weeks. Despite the Coronavirus Lockdown we are still maintaining the Pistes...raking regularly; picking up litter; putting weedkiller on the perennials weeds that started to infiltrate the pathways; edging the grass around the boundaries and putting a polycarbonate cover over the signage for added protection. In consultation with Ciaran, and providing the group are in agreement, he was more than happy to have the Perpetual Trophy for our competition named in memory of his late, father Tom Walsh who was an avid Lawn and Carpet Bowler and he would undoubtedly have loved to play Boules in the park.  We will source a suitable trophy and share the modest cost between the players and Ciaran. CORONAVIRUS The best made plans of mice and men....... Man proposes and God disposes....... Social isolation has truly kicked in now.  Hard to believe that less than a month [17-03-20] ago this was the situation..... Anecdotally, I hear players are fondling their boules unnecessarily vigorously in anticipation of the resumption of play in the near future, hopefully.   When fed up we have the 'BBC Shirt Challenge' for the official 'party' whenever play recommences. It will be hard to beat this prototype but please try! This enforced absence will afford players the opportunity to check out a couple of Apps for your smartphone discovered by Ciaran.....
