39th Post.....literal and metaphorical drought....

Image
Thanks to all the volunteers who, by watering the roots of the newly-planted trees, are increasing their chances of surviving this unseasonal drought.  The pictures below identifiy the original width of the pathways through the park. Hopefully they will be restored in the near future. Meanwhile, we are playing socially distanced boules as per directives.  Great to be back playing in the the summery weather.  Hoping to get back to full competition mode in the near future! The Great Irish Rake Off!!  My money is on Thomas...... Best wishes to Gerry.  We hope he makes a full recovery following his accident on the same day this photo was taken....

Social Distancing as requested....... Looks good in the air... ...but not good enough as Eileen claims the point! Tommy keeps Sean in his sights. Beautiful morning.  Great to be back playing.  Keep the social distancing going for now.  Timetable will adapt to changing circumstances and government advice.  The single player per piste is working very well especially with the extra boule [ or two!] to add a little spice to proceedings. 37th Post ..... Let the Games Commence....

The following advice below was posted on the I.P.A. Facebook page today.  With some small exceptions we have restarted play today applying most of these suggestions.  As many of us are in the Autumn Years it is in our interests to ensure we pose no risk to each other. Staying away if unwell.  Facemasks optional. Using own boules, coches, measuring tapes,  pegs etc..  Many of us played with gloves.  We didn't have sanitisers but people only played for an hour and went home and washed hands thoroughly.  We socially distanced and had none of the 'normal' greetings.   Most games were played with one player on each piste playing against the player in the adjacent piste and it proved, despite misgivings, to be both competitive and enjoyable. When we played two per piste we insisted that when not actively playing you left the piste and clearly stood away to the side maintaining the social distance. You didn't occupy the same personal space at any point in the game.
