127th Post: 2024 - The Year of Bayside Boules

Some of the Committee will be meeting an officer of Fingal, Janette Scott in early January  with a view to gleaning advice and support for the future development of Bayside Boules.  Monday Competition: This is the penultimate table with Ciarán in the lead.  Chris could technically have stolen the title had he been able to play on the final Monday and Ciarán was to lose all his games.  Unfortunately, he was unable to play and Ciarán won on merit anyway on the final Monday.   He also beat Tom Buckley's record of 20 'Thirteens' in a competition.  He retains the trophy which we will present formally at the first session of the next round of competition.  Congratulations Ciarán!! Unusually we didn't lose any Monday to inclement weather.  Also, we wish Joan all the best with her continuing recovery and will be delighted to see her back in action in 2024.  All the best to any other of pour members who are indisposed over this Christmas. 126th Post - Busy Novembers

 Monday Competition: Three more competition days after this available before Christmas.  Today the 4th Dec. was dry but very cold with all players well wrapped up against the elements.  Fifteen players again today 3 x 5 with the triples playing two boules each.  Don't know if they'd play in these condition on the MED.!! Some great play despite the cold but 13s were hard to come by.  Ciarán ruling the roost still. Clustering............. Planting Days: Fingal offered us 100 Polyanthus but as we had no flower area we created two beds, courtesy of Tom Buckley, and Sean, James, Jim, Tom B and Tom D planted the beds, at the Fingal designated locations, with topsoil supplied by Fingal Operations.  Having spoken with Fingal, their plan is not to provide further annual plants but rather to supply perennials for 2024, which won't be as costly; will require less maintenance and will be more biodiverse and sustainable going forward.  Suits us also.
