127th Post: 2024 - The Year of Bayside Boules
Some of the Committee will be meeting an officer of Fingal, Janette Scott in early January with a view to gleaning advice and support for the future development of Bayside Boules.
Monday Competition:
This is the penultimate table with Ciarán in the lead. Chris could technically have stolen the title had he been able to play on the final Monday and Ciarán was to lose all his games. Unfortunately, he was unable to play and Ciarán won on merit anyway on the final Monday.
Unusually we didn't lose any Monday to inclement weather. Also, we wish Joan all the best with her continuing recovery and will be delighted to see her back in action in 2024. All the best to any other of pour members who are indisposed over this Christmas.
Christmas Triples Competition:
Ciarán organised a lovely morning's competition on the 29th December. Fifteen players attended which allowed for five teams of three. Despite the wind-chill factor we had no rain and everyone enjoyed the games. Ciarán sorted the teams based on rankings from previous competitions. Two entirely new players made up the 15 - Rita Harris and Seamus McGrath. They were made very welcome and contributed to the enjoyment of the occasion.
Tom Donnellan, Dirk Jurgen-Starz and Seamus McGrath prevailed after multiple timed games to take the honours. Our thanks to Ciaran for all his input before and during the event.
School Use:
Some senior classes have been using the facility since the summer holidays. Just prior to the Christmas holidays a large group were out playing in reasonable weather. Long may their engagement continue.
With Ciarán's input, being Garda vetted, we hope to further engage pupils and parents/grandparents in 2024 with a view to promoting the game and potentially gaining further playing membership.
