156th Post: Scorchio.....in July

 BBC - St. Anne's Memorial Event: Nigel ran the annual event in St. Anne's Park very efficiently.  We had 23 participants, in total - a great turnout.  We remembered Mike Deegan, Kitty Rowley, Shay Coyne and Seán Mahon and had a moments silence for them and former players who would like to be playing but can't, currently. Ciarán was the worthy winner of the Mike Deegan Memorial Trophy with 38 points out of a possible 39!  Sharyon was the runner-up on 34 points and four players Terry, Dirk, Kevin and Tom D were joint third on 32 points. Thanks to those who set up the area for the event and Yvonne who brought along the gear. We retired to Olive's Room for coffee afterwards where they had set aside four benches for us.  The weather was glorious and the trees provided much needed shade.  Bays ide availed of the opportunity to wear their club colours to great effect. 155th Post: Busy as Bees

BBC Ladies Doubles:  Three pairs of ladies are due to represent BBC at the Ladies finals in Marlay Park on Saturday 25th July.  The pairs are Yvonne + Eileen ; Maureen + Irene ; Terry + Sharyon . They'll have a month to practice together and play other doubles to hone their teamwork before the competition.  Feel free to offer them a game or two. We wish them well in a competition we performed well at last year. BBC Doubles Qualifier:   due to be played in Bushy Park on Sat 27th June.  Due to unforeseen circumstances no BBC team made the qualifier. Results - the top 6 teams qualified: Tom Walsh Trophy:   We have reached the knockout stage of this interesting, dual-route competition.  The Monday and Saturday competitions were separate routes to the last eight.  You could play in both and qualify in both but as Ciarán stated in his text: "Ciarán was Rank 1 in both but qualifies from Monday due to a higher number of wins.  Brigid therefore a...
