B.B.C. welcomes Triplets!

2022      I.P.A. Triples Competition. Eileen, Tom and Ciaran took a chance at the National Triples competition last Saturday 23rd April at Bushy Park, Terenure.  It was a whole day affair.  We travelled to be on site for 9.00 a.m. so we could get parked up and try out the surface.  Play started shortly after 10.15 a.m.  There were thirteen teams of three making thirty-nine competitors in total with some spectators.   The recently established County Cavan Petanque Club based at the old Belturbet Railway Station sent three teams to see how they would fare in national competition, like ourselves.  They were fully kitted out in sponsored clothing and definitely won the best dressed competitors virtual award.  Our only victory was against one of their teams.  We lost the three other fixtures but our claim to fame was that we lost to the eventual winners by the closest margin.  In fact, we performed reasonably well against both the finalists.  We met them both in our group.  The skill of &#

105th Post Weather and Matchplay heating Up!

  Group A :  Monday Competition  Winner Michael Dolan was the worthy winner of the Tom Walsh Memorial Trophy.  Ciaran presented him with the trophy for winning the 1st Quarter competition with the highest score just pipping Larry to the post. He was delighted to win the trophy and he was highly complimentary to the members of the B.B.C. who have made him so welcome and the organisation involved in running the boules in Alden Park. Matchplay situation as of today: When the final fixtures of this coming week are completed we will know the players in the three Knockout Groups.  Top 4 from each Group; Bottom 4 from each Group and the remaining Mid-tier Group.
