37th Post ..... Let the Games Commence....

The following advice below was posted on the I.P.A. Facebook page today.  With some small exceptions we have restarted play today applying most of these suggestions.
As many of us are in the Autumn Years it is in our interests to ensure we pose no risk to each other.
Staying away if unwell.  Facemasks optional. Using own boules, coches, measuring tapes,  pegs etc..  Many of us played with gloves.  We didn't have sanitisers but people only played for an hour and went home and washed hands thoroughly.  We socially distanced and had none of the 'normal' greetings.
Most games were played with one player on each piste playing against the player in the adjacent piste and it proved, despite misgivings, to be both competitive and enjoyable.
When we played two per piste we insisted that when not actively playing you left the piste and clearly stood away to the side maintaining the social distance. You didn't occupy the same personal space at any point in the game.  Maximum of two players per piste, if you can socially distance.
Even if the the rings, scoreboards etc are unavailable it should be possible to play and one person record the score on a piece of paper or App.

In Northern Ireland from 28th May up to 6 persons may play.

Players must stay 2 metres away from each other.
Face masks are advised, but not mandatory.
No handshakes or kissing. Toe-to-toe greetings only.
All players must bring to the piste their own hand sanitiser.
Nobody must touch another player’s boules, cochonnet, measuring tape or hand sanitiser.
No entrance money should be used.
Each team must have their own cochonnet and use it when they win the previous end.
Only one person in the game is allowed to touch the circle and the scoreboard.
Any player measuring must do so with his/her own tape. Others stand 2 metres away.

Since Golf and Tennis are allowed, in a restricted manner from Monday 18th May, we hope to start practise/play with just one person per piste. No rings. Just mark a throwing ring with your foot. Bring your own measuring tape to measure. Keep your score on a piece of paper or phone app.......Petanque: Score Master
By playing with the same people at the same time slot each day you reduce potential exposure to the virus. Only handle your own equipment and sanitise regularly. Wearing a mask might become obligatory. We await Government advice.
Either practice or play competitively with the player alongside. These slots can cater for 40 players playing Singly across a day.
If playing competitively you agree on a similar position for the coche on side by side Pistes and place/drop the cosh. [ AvB ] [CvD] . Adding an extra boule 30 to 60 cm. in front of the Jack/Coche will add a dimension.
You each throw in sequence, or by agreement simultaneously, from a similar position / ring in your Piste.
When all three boules are thrown you measure the nearest ones to the cosh on your piste then compare to see who has the nearest one, two or three boules and record on a piece of paper or App.
Please be prepared to move when next players arrive for their slot. Other times on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be free for play also.
If you can't make your slot just put it up on the WhatsApp and another player may take it up, if free. Only 4 players at a time though, generally, until further notice.
