Bayside Boules Club - Alden Park - since late 2019

  Defibrillator points in the Bayside Area. This information is accurate as of today.  Note: the external device has yet to be installed at the Community Centre.  Hopefully by the end of February 2023.  The Bayside Community Association have part-funded the proposed installation and on-going maintenance.   TRIPLES COMPETITION: Ciaran organised a most successful, inaugural TRIPLES competition for Wednesday 28th Dec. 2022.    [ table and brackets etc. courtesy of Ciaran ] The weather gods looked kindly on the occasion and the little rainfall didn't disrupt proceedings.  Twenty seven players across the groups enjoyed the day.  Ciaran himself was supernumerary [love that word!] and took on the administrative role for the day.  I'm sure he would have loved to play but his magnificent contribution must be acknowledged.  Thank you from all of us! Despite just having just two boules each players were so immersed that the old bug bear was forgotten in the heat of battle.  Ciaran had created the teams in advance and despite having more teams than the four pistes could cater for, we played from 10:30 to 12:30 in the morning and returned for the knockout phase in the afternoon.  Bayside Calendars: Tom D has a number of them for sale at 10 Euro each [ less than a Euro a month!] Collect at the Boules or call to 17 V.P. New Alden Park boules surface: The thin layer of new surface material is bedding in ok.  It is taking a little getting used to but generally the comments are favourable.  Here we see some trying out the pistes for the first time.. Malahide Boules: A group from BBC is supporting the Malahide start-up boules.  We will assist at irregular intervals as weather permits over December / January.  Then they can establish their own systems etc. The pistes are brand new and a little slow but a great facility nonetheless with toilets, parking and cafe nearby.  Any occasional support would be most welcome.  My thanks to those who have already supported.  Refurbishment Works: Fingal Co.Co. delivered two tonnes of top dressing for the pistes, on request from the committee.  Some sub-stone had begun to appear on the pistes.  We will request some more grit for the pathways to define them better and suppress weed and grass growth.  Our thanks to the group of 'Spreaders' last Saturday morning.  Players will find the surface somewhat different for a few weeks but the weather will work its magic as happened recently in St. Anne's pistes. Boules in the Dublin region: Each pin represents a Boules Area in and around Dublin.  The various councils, including Fingal, are installing pistes in various locations.  The most recent in our region is in Malahide Park near the children's playground.
