Bayside Boules Club - Alden Park - since late 2019

 Matchplay Final Mary and Chris Grehan won the Doubles Matchplay. They were randomly drawn together by Ciarán's tracker but took full advantage and have a trophy each for the mantlepiece until the next doubles competition. Congratulations to both and all those who took part without ultimate success.  There were great games on the way to the final and most were well attended courtesy of the WhatsApp Group, administered by Ciarán. Nigel, the previous winner of the trophy, stepped aside and organised a wonderful event in honour of Mike.  26 players from both St.Anne's and Bayside Boules took part.  Everyone played three, timed games and the total score for each player, combined, gave the individual result.  On this occasion Tom Donnellan was the winner and gratefully accepted the trophy from Nigel.  Singles Match Play Shootout: Ciaran has organised another first for our Group.  A Singles Match Play Shootout for this coming weekend. We're looking for the Wyatt Earp and Annie Oakley of the Alden Park boulers...... This, on top of the Friday Evening Social Boules, which he also organised and is running very well in the Mediterranean conditions! [ thanks to Ciaran for photos] Primary School:   Ciaran is also in the process of Garda Vetting to support the staff in the Primary School in setting up their engagement with the sport, probably now in the Autumn term.  Thanks again Ciaran. Bastille Day:   Our next 'Event' will be on the weekend of 15th /16th July with our now traditional French National Holiday Fun Boules Event.   Maintenance:  Our thanks to Tom B, Agnes and the other members who are continuing to maintain the area in and around the pistes.  We still hope that the extra couple of pistes will come on stream in the reasona...

  Apologies for the delay in post this blog.  I was away but by all accounts not missed, which is how it should be!! Singles Matchplay Finals: Congratulations firstly to Ciaran for the very successful Singles Matchplay.  Approx. 40 players entered the competition from our 50+ player body. Despite a couple of minor glitches it proves to be a great event bringing the players and others together and allowing us to get to know each other better. Ciaran, astutely, organised qualifier rounds before creating the four tiers for the knockout phases.  With the exception of the Tier 1 final, for which a trophy is awarded, all the tiers had  prizes of equal value for the winner and runner-up.  Thanks again Ciaran. Many of the matches had an audience which related to the fact that the App allowed the players to see the fixtures in advance and the results afterwards.
