110th Post. Belated Compendium.

I haven't posted in a while so this is a catch all.

Group A Monday Singles:

Firstly, congratulations to Tom Buckley on his recent victory in the Group A Monday singles competition winning the Tom Walsh trophy for the first time.

Tom received the Tom Walsh Memorial Trophy from the previous winner Chris Grehan.  He was delighted to be in the winner's enclosure and was magnanimous in his thanks to his fellow competitors and particularly Charlie for his virtual management and advice.

IPA TRIPLES:

Ciaran, Michael and Tom D took a chance and entered the qualifiers for the Celtic Challenge due to be played in Bangor (N.I) in early 2023.  Notice the 'community group' colours and crest! It coincided with the death of Queen Elizabeth but went ahead in any event. We finished last in our pool but the margin between victory and defeat was not huge, in most cases. Having 'Shooters' was key to victory in most teams.

Here are a few photos to sample the occasion.

Group A Monday Competition:

Play in the next Group A Monday competition is well under way.  Welcome back to James.  Wishing Larry well in recovery.

Gerry is currently holding the lead after Week 5.  He's being chased down by two ladies from the St.Anne's Group who play regularly both in Alden and St.Anne's and it is showing in their league position.

Malahide Installation:

Fingal Co. Co. [ via. Cornelia Raftery] and Fingal Operations, have installed a 4-Piste facility in Malahide Park close by the children's playground and proximate to the carpark, picnic benches, toilets and cafe.  Our thanks to Nigel for the photo.  We hope we can have interaction with their players when they get started.

Holiday Boules:

Members are beginning to notice / play on pistes abroad on holidays.  The variety of locations; surface textures; facilities; standard of players is vast.  Most are very welcoming if you're willing to get engaged.

Friday Evening Boules:

The Friday evening boules orchestrated by Ciaran was a great success.  The summer weather was generally favourable and the open, social nature of the occasions lent itself to great enjoyment.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday play has been generally open to all.  Group B have rights on Tuesday and Thursday mornings but thus far numbers and lack of formal competition has meant that all have been catered for.  The following are a selection of photos from previous weeks.

Sunday Afternoon Boules:  Ciaran is proposing to have Sunday Social Boules, 2:30 to 4:30 weather-permitting, over the winter period open to any comers.....

Not Boules:    [ but thanks to Tom B for assistance with repair of a standing Stone!]
