148th Post: Continuing to progress.

Welcome:     To our latest member Maryse Rovera who plays most Thursdays in the very welcoming group.

Turnouts:    Great turnouts most days of play across the month. If the weather is not entirely off-putting there are many willing players ready to prove their progress.

The Saturday Competition mornings are generally the best attended averaging 24 on most occasions.  We are gradually getting adjusted to the new scoring system.

Defibrillator Update:    We are just awaiting on an electrician to install the Defibrillator on the school wall at the rear entrance to the school opposite the BBC play area in Alden Park. When installed it will be available for the school population, the Alden Park users and the general population nearby.  We are hoping to have it installed by Christmas!!

Proposed location of the Automated External Defibrillator

A group of BBC members attended a CPR course in the Bayside Community Centre on Sat 29th  courtesy of Bayside First Responders, in anticipation of the installation.

Health and Safety:     BBC have a Health and Safety Statement pinned to the notice board.  Please have a read.  At this time of the year, in particular, stepping on the wooden boundaries is a point of danger.  We had been missing a basic First Aid Kit and a formal Incident Report book.  Both have been acquired.  If a personal falls please give them time to compose before attempting to lift them....just in case. Hamed is our Health and Safety officer.  If you identify any issues please let him know.

Accident / Incident book in a waterproof wallet in the Boules Store.

St Fintan's Transition Year:        We hope to recommence the involvement of the Transition Year pupils of St. Fintan's HS in the Springtime.  They will visit on Tuesday mornings to start play after 9 a.m.  We will need a few volunteers to support the venture.  There will be a teacher present but we will need two or three members willing to be involved to maintain the project.  If we had 6 names we could rotate the involvement.  A couple of members have indicated their interest.  A few more are needed.  You could play afterwards with the Tuesday Group, if so desired.  Please indicate your interest to Tom.  We may have to cancel if we don't get sufficient support.

BBC Xmas Function:        Anne has organised the BBC Christmas Function for The Elphin on Wednesday 3rd December at 2p.m.  Using the WhatsApp Poll 25 have expressed interest. A great response.  No set menu ...you pay for whatever you eat and drink. 🎄🎅

Night lights:     For occasional use BBC have purchased a couple of rechargeable night lights to permit a small amount of late evening Boules.

Headwear:     The headwear option have arrived and been distributed.

Sean Jenkins - Presentation:     Seán Jenkins was presented with the Tom Walsh Trophy by the previous winner of the Monday Competition, Larry Breheny ,following Seán's recent victory in the Competition.

A Happy Christmas Cheer from BBC to Cavan Pétanque Club:      On request from Cavan BBC gave them a seasonal cheer at the end of play on Sat. 29th.
