101st Post The Invincibles: Rose and James.

Congratulations to Rose and James

...on their wonderful victory in the Doubles Matchplay Competition.

They were deserved winners of a hard fought competition, especially over the doughty competitors Agnes and John, in the final.  They never lost their nerve despite having their early lead hauled back to level at one stage. [These couple of photos at the presentation ceremony are courtesy of Ciaran].

James who is always praising everyone else was almost speechless but, when composed, he thanked his most able partner, Rose, and his coach, Sean J! Our thoughts are with Rose's husband, Brian, who would love to have been part of the special occasion.  We'll see him in the New Year DV.

Rose and James, the Victors.

John and Agnes / Rose and James

Nigel and Vivienne, last victors,
presented the Perpetual trophies to both Rose and James and Aaron and Jacob presented the vouchers for McHugh's to the Winners and Runners-Up.  Eileen D opted for Rose and James as the ante-post favorites and will have her fee returned.  This little added interest might be be continued going forward.

For a morning in late December the weather was mild and bright and there was a great turnout of previous participants.  It was particularly nice to have Ian Berkery, who had asked his dad Kevin if he could attend.

Here are a selection of photos of the spectators who were treated to a very enjoyable finale to a most interesting, nerve-wracking format.  Our thanks to the umpires, Tom B and Nigel, and scorekeepers Charlie and Gerry, who unburdened the players of those extra duties.

BCA thanks to BBC Volunteers:

The Bayside Community Association wish to thank all the volunteers from Bayside Boules Community who assisted with the very successful launch of the Art in the Park:  Re-Imagined Stone Circle using Recycled materials by the commissioned artist Eoghain Phelan ,with the financial support of Creative Ireland.  After two years gestation the installation was finally opened by the Mayor of Fingal, Seana O Rodaigh.  The weather and the entire event was a credit to all and we can only hope that it is appreciated by all park users.
