85th Post...Allez les Bleus...GOYBIG...

Our thanks to Alan McDermott for taking these photos at the BBC Bayside Boules Community Bastille Day event on Wed. 14th July, in Alden Park.  Though unconnected to the group he gave of his time and expertise to record the early part of the event on a beautiful morning.

With the ravages of Covid abated for now we had a slightly restrained event this year.  In the circumstances we had a 'Fun' hour followed by a 'time-out' for refreshments and then we had a game involving most of the attendees on all four Pistes.

Our thanks to the Committee and others who set up the area in advance of the celebration and dismantled the decorations afterwards.  Thanks also to all the attendees who made the morning with most wearing a nod to French Couture!  Thanks to Gerry L for his French sound track which added to the atmosphere and Charlie for his bunting etc. The following photos are a selection of Alan's.

We had a small, token, prize giving afterwards for the 'winners' in the various events.....

Group Play started on Monday / Tuesday mornings.  group A are going to finish their original competition that was abandoned on account of Covid-19.  Thanks to Ciaran for the updated scoresheet.

Four more Competition Mondays are required to finish off the Group A Competition.  All to play for.

Nigel is fronting Group B on Tuesdays and Thursday now. Kevin and Barbra have also moved to Group B and John G to Group C.  Jimmy Q is not available on Mondays but can play Wednesdays in Group A.

We hope that Group B will have their own separate competition in the near future.  They will fund their perpetual trophy from a collection from their player group.

The Matchplay Competitions and Casual play will be the glue to cement the BBC together since we can't all play together at the one time, due to increasing numbers.

Shortly, our top eight from the last Singles Matchplay Competition namely:

Ciaran Walsh, Denis Breheny, Tom Buckley, Sean Jenkins, Chris Grehan, Larry Breheny, Shay Coyne and Vivienne O'Mahony

will, if available, play a team from St. Anne's, home and away. and hopefully a team from Bushy Park at a later stage over the Summer. [ We may rob Shay for St. Anne's!! ]
