68th Post.....Its a Knockout......

Singles Matchplay Report:

We're at the knockout end of the Singles Matchplay now.  This is how the pairings fared.

Ciaran beat Shay

Tom beat Michael

Jimmy beat Charlie

Nigel beat Garry

The semi-finals, to be played next week, feature Tom B v Jimmy and Ciaran v Nigel.

Please check the weather forecast and book as soon as possible as the timesheet is filling up.  You will have priority and other players will have to give way for your preferred slot.  The final will be on Sat. or Sun next, whichever suits the finalists.
For the final, if spectators wish to arrive in time for the presentation please mask-up and socially distance.

The booking sheet has been working well for the competition contestants and the casual players alike.
Group A, B and C are using the booking sheet now, also.  Remember to text your desired slot to me at 0874115145 and if it is still available it will be allocated to you.  Make your pair up off-line, if possible.

You will notice that Friday is not included as it is allocated for school use as well as a short time each afternoon.  Since Alden Park is a public space, being more heavily used than ever now, we have left Sundays out for general public use.  We can use it ourselves but be aware that players not from B.B.C. may not be masked and may not socially distance, so discretion is advised.

While the Level 5 Covid Restrictions remain we will continue with the booking sheet for singles play. If we go back to Level 2 for the beginning of December we will review the situation.

We are grateful that Nigel has agreed to join the organising committee to represent Group B.  We will ask Group B , as it is now fully formed [16 players] for a nominal contribution in early 2021 to cover expenses as Group A have borne costs to date.  When Group C is fully formed we will do likewise.

Park Upgrade:

The park has been upgraded further, during the week, with the promised pathway refurbishment.  Even the short path into the Boules area has been resurfaced.  Our thanks to Fingal Co. Co. Parks Dept. for their continuing interest in Alden Park redevelopment.

For your diary:

Nationwide on RTE will feature the 'Orchard' community project, just off Bayside Sq. Sth., on
Monday 23rd Nov.  Worth a visit, if you haven't already been there, in advance of the programme.

P.S.  If anyone has unused, solar-powered, outdoor Christmas lights we might decorate a tree in the vicinity of the Boules Courts for the Christmas.......
