66th Post.....Hallow - Weeners....

Our thanks again to Ciaran for the the very efficient organisation
of our Singles Matchplay 'Covid' Competition.

In Group 4 Tom Buckley has completed his pool games and topped the group.
All the other groups have outstanding fixtures.
By the end of this week all pool games will be played and
the two best runners-up will be identified to move into the quarter-finals.
So efficient has the organisation been that the entire competition may be
completed within three weeks!

As you can see we've increased the timeframe for each match to two hours,
as many tightly-contested games were taking well above the previously allocated
hour and a half.  The shorter period meant there was an 'uncomfortable' overlap
between games.

Everyone is keeping their distance; wearing their masks; using their own equipment
and generally protecting each other in 'Our Plan for Living'.

The singles competition has also proven to be a wonderful ice-breaker for new members,
for instance, the O Connor brothers who, should they stay, could be the basis of the new Group C??

The ingenious variety of score-keeping methods ranges from pen and paper to specialised
phone Apps with these photos below somewhere in between........

Our thanks to the Committee members who walked the Boules area a couple of times on Halloween night with high-vis vests and lights to let any potential revellers know that we were being vigilant.  The Gardai had visited the area the previous night on routine pre-Halloween scoping.  All was quiet [ except for the fireworks!!]

And....No....these are not the Committee members!!!!

A few photos from the Singles games over the week.....

The Bayside Area is being 'lifted' by a combination of the efforts of commercial enterprise....

....Fingal County Council public spaces enhancement.......

....and the effort of volunteers who are bringing extra vibrancy to the area,,,,,,
