62nd Post...Be prepared...

COMPETITION:

The normal Monday Competition is due to restart for Group A on tomorrow Monday 12th.  It will be the 7th game of Twelve.  As some players may not be resuming at this time please make sure to contact Tom privately or through the Group A App so we can determine if a group needs to step aside for Morning play and play later in the day.

MATCHPLAY:

Courtesy of Ciaran.  First Semi-final today at 1 p.m.

Michael and Ciaran beat Jimmy and Tommy yesterday.  The spectators would have loved a third game as there were some great ends.  The photos below are courtesy of Nigel and Tom.  As you can see the weather was as good as the play.  We had Scorekeepers, Coaches, Minders, Measurers, VAR failures, Spectators and of course Players!

GROUP B:

Group B were asked to arrive a little later than previously and they kindly obliged.  This permits the less crowded transfer between groups, especially as the numbers increase.  Shay Coyne was a welcome and experienced new member of the Group.  Eleven play altogether in the beautiful conditions.

UMBRELLAS:

Louise Edmonds  [Fingal Age-Friendly Programme Manager ],as promised, arrived today with some more umbrellas for the Bayside Boules Community participants.

While it was sunny, on this occasion, the previously donated umbrellas came in handy during yesterdays Matchplay game with John and Shay playing Vivienne and Nigel.  After a three game thriller Nigel and Vivienne came out on top and are due to play Eileen and Tom in one of the semi-finals early next week.

Ciaran social distancing despite the rain....

The Matchplay Competition is proving compelling.

Ah go on...go on...open up for me!!

BAYSIDE SNS START-UP:

On Friday afternoon a group of B.B.C. players showed some of the staff from Bayside SNS the basics of the game so they can introduce it to some of the pupils.  The benefit of playing outdoors in these covid-19 times is not lost on them.  We hope this link will lead, in time, to a growth in  new generations of players.  They had bought their own equipment for school use.  Hopefully, in time, some of the staff themselves might become interested adult players.  Our thanks to Lucy [Staff ] for liaising on this venture.  Our thanks to Agnes, Charlie, Chris and Ciaran for making themselves available for the  tuition.

Staff and Pupils....or ... Pupils and Staff!!
