52nd Post.....let the Games Commence....

Ciaran proudly presenting Tom D with the Tom Walsh trophy for winning the inaugural boules competition for the Bayside Boules Community in Alden Park.  Tom D was delighted to be the first recipient of the trophy and promises to let others win it in the future! We had a great turnout on a decidedly cool summer's morning. We welcomed James R and Maureen D as new competition members, though they both are experienced carpet bowlers.

Note the Covid Elbow greeting as Ciaran presents the Tom Walsh trophy to Tom D.

Ciaran promises to invest his Ab*******ie advertising fee in the BBC!

Honestly, I won it fair n square......don't believe those conspiracy theorists!

Maureen on her first competition day in Alden park.

Chris hatching a cunning plan....despite the current scores.

Nigel wasn't playing but he refereed, umpired, measured and generally assisted proceedings.

Spot the boule.....Maureen spot the Bou........!!!!!

Sean and Eileen reeling them in.....

Respecting Social Distancing while Agnes holds imposing pose.

Eighteen competitors caught in wide angle view.....[ sorry 17! ]

The scores for today follow below.

Eileen and Sean are streaking ahead with a maximum 39 followed closely by Ciaran and Chris with 38.  Early days, in the slightly changed format of best 24 scores from a possible 36, over the 12 week competition period.  Any scores garnered over and above your 3 games on a competition day will not count in the new format.

Please try to be onsite by 9.45 so the cards can be distributed and teams agreed before the 10.00 start.
If you are going to be delayed please text and we can include you in the draw and start on time.

Just to note that vandalism / littering is not the preserve of Alden Park.  Here is the damage done to the grounds of an English Petanque Club last night.....

The last Post

David, reports sad vandalism has occurred on the Piste in Alexandra Park.
