44th Post.....None but the Brave...

Thanks again to Ciaran for the updated table.

Twelve players braved the elements for the 9.30 start.  It definitely wasn't summer but we warmed to the task.  We drew 'damp' cards, wet from Saturdays abandoned session, to commence.  It was windy and cool but the competition was 'hot'.
Agnes and Tom D managed to complete a clean sweep with a max. score of 39 for the permitted three games.  The lead is changing hands regularly which is good.
We only count the scores gained over three or less games.  Anybody managing to start a fourth game won't accrue any score for the competition in that 4th game.  The two other games were very competitive.

What a difference the rain has made....

The parched park of a couple of weeks ago.
Not quite the 'Emerald Aisle'!!!
We even watered the saplings to help them survive the drought.

No matter how you looks at it Charlie.......!

Notice everybody's summery attire......

Still socially distancing.....

Agnes about to launch another Exocet Missile.

Not quite the aim of the game......the Boules don't have to socially distance from the Jack!

Good the to see the park being so well used since the 'Lockdown' eased.  We think a group of parents and their 6th class pupils from the school next door had their own impromptu graduation during the week.  Not much distancing though!!

Maintenance of the Piste Area.  Along with the Litter Picking and the Strimming of the grass verges
I tried a 'natural' weed-killer experiment on the pathways.  I know RoundUp are doing an expensive 'Green' commercial product now but this homemade mix did an OK job.  See the 'before' and 'after' pics.
Unfortunately the council didn't put in any weed control membrane under the gravel so it will be an ongoing issue.

A few days later....

Starting to work on the Bastille Day Event   A morning event with an invitation to the St Anne's Boules Group to join us, if desired.  Keeping the numbers down to allow  social distancing.
Tuesday 14th July ...weather permitting.  10 a.m. to Noon.  we'll need a few bodies to put up the festoons n flags beforehand.

Any resemblance to members past or present is purely coincidental and the committee will plead the 5th Amendment should any defamation case ensue....

Despite the rain on Wednesday six players braved the elements to play singles.
