20th Post.....Transformers.....

Today seven locals played on the regular Wednesday play day.  Some of the St. Anne's group are committed to play in St. Anne's on Wednesdays and can't attend. https://stannesboules.blogspot.com/
Some of them will be on site here, on Saturday.

Yesterday, a contractor arrived on the instruction of Fingal Co.Co. to address the absence of a wheelchair ramp.  They worked in atrocious weather conditions to create a pathway at the entrance and also the wheelchair ramp.  At our request, they also widened the narrow pathway on the southern side to have a firm pathway to the seating area. We are grateful for their efforts.  This is their first effort at installing a Boules / Petanque facility in a public park and to a great extent they researched and provided a quality installation.

Unfortunately, the sand material used in today's work is not of the same quality as the gritty surface of the Pistes and it will remain soft and possibly wash away in rainstorms.  We will work with the Council to redeem / correct the situation and over time, perhaps with our assistance, create a firmer base for wheelchair access; make pathways around all the Pistes and put in some sort of 'edging' to prevent the soils migrating onto/into the pathways.

We certainly don't wish to be ungrateful but with continued co-operation the facility can continue to be upgraded.  Should the council allow we could, in partnership and with the supply of materials, even further enhance the facility.

We will talk to the officials in the run up to the official opening.
