Teething Issues .....

As happens with public facilities the more we use them the more things we find that need to be addressed.  Our joy at the new facility was predictably but unfortunately dampened when the new benches were daubed in salacious graffiti within a week.  We have photos of the damage but they are not suitable to display here.  We hope the defacers will one day enjoy the game and support community endeavours.

A couple of residents spent some hours, in fortunately dry weather, sanding down the benches and putting three separate coats of Woodstain on the flat surfaces of the benches.  We hope that they are left undamaged for community use in the future.  We also collect the rubbish as there is no bin provided in the park.

Issues to be addressed:

1:  We would like to have a metre-wide pathway around the whole facility as spectators / players like to move forward to view the progress of the game, in safety and without having to walk on the grass, eventually creating a muddy path.  Half the area is covered by external pathway but the other half has been left parkland.

2:  Wheelchair users, who can play the game, have no proper access either off the tarmac pathway onto the too narrow gravel path alongside one piste.  Then they need a portable / permanent ramp to access at least one piste.

3:  While we would like security lighting in the park in general and particularly by the new boules area.  It would discourage loitering in dark evenings and make anti-social behaviour less likely .  In the absence of a budget to supply internal lighting in the Park, at present,we would like if existing street lighting could have additional fittings attached that would partially floodlight in the direction of the pistes without disturbing neighbours in the far-distance.  Worth checking!

4:  As the gravel/ grit butts directly up against the soil we will have a problem of soil ingress into the pathways in the future.  It could be prevented by installing proprietary edging material otherwise there is constant maintenance required.
