3rd Post.....The Inspiration

Inspiration from Bayside Community Association actions.

 The crew from BCA gave us great advice and support following their 'Tidy-Up' of the 'Lamb Chop Park' on Bayside Park which, like our own Alden Park, had very limited use over the years.  Now it contains a Children's Playground, the Community Area, and a Nature / Conservation Trail.  Pride in the area has risen as a result.  None of these facilities happened by accident but rather through the driven ambition of a dedicated group in conjunction with their local representatives and the officials in Fingal Co. Co. Parks Section.  The results of the co-operation is manifest in the photos.

Upcoming in 2025 Singles Matchplay completion by Christmas. Regular play most days as usual, weather permitting. Saturday Competition until quarter end. Yule Boules on a weekend day in December [Stand alone event] day/date TBD. Christmas Lunch on Wed. Dec 3rd  at 2pm in the Elphin.  Book via the  poll on the App. Thursday Boules: What a turnout today 06-11-25 on a beautiful morning.  Eighteen playing in bright sunshine on an unseasonably warm day.  New trialists arriving and prospective new members including a French lady! Monday play: Monday play continues with players using the non-competitive games to try out the skill of 'shooting' in particular.  Since we were used to the 10 am start we've continued with the early start.  In and around eighteen players most Monday mornings.  With our numbers playing most mornings we are probably the most active club on the island. 142nd Post: Availing of the beautiful weather....

 Matchplay 2025; Ciarán's Matchplay has completed the Round Robin series and is now in the Knockout phase.  The pairs, selected by Ciarán, have proven to be very even with almost all games going to the third end in the qualifying stage. The quarter-final pairings are being decided at present and all bets are off!  The games are well attended and great entertainment is on offer in the late evening sunshine.  Pétanque Sligo visitors: Eventually Pétanque Sligo managed to visit Bayside Boules on Sat May 3rd.  They travelled by train and DART and were picked up by Bayside club members and transported to the pistes.  They had the use of the Bayside school toilet which was a great bonus. 145th Post: July happenings

Seapoint visit to Alden:      We welcomed Seapoint Pétanque to Alden Park on Wed July 2nd.  We had a great morning's play in lovely weather. We played all doubles fixtures and eventually BBC managed to win overall - cumulative score 169 v 154 while the head to heads were a draw at 9 wins apiece. We were impressed by their 'uniform' appearance which is our goal shortly. Bastille Day: We had our annual Bastille Day Fun and Games on Sunday 13th this year. The weather obliged and we had a very enjoyable afternoon. We had a variety of winners over the 6 disciplines. The players all wore some Red and Blue articles with the French theme on the day. Calendar of upcoming events: We have the IPA Doubles on Sunday Aug 3rd to look forward to.  Dirk will represent BBC at the IPA Precision Shooting .  We are endeavouring to get a team of four willing to travel to cork for the Celtic Challenge Qualifiers.   Team has to be entered before Sat 9th August.  The Celt...
