109th Post : Summer is here... Boules Fever has taken off....

Pistes are not uniform..... A selection of Petanque surfaces from south of France:  From the 'rough to the smooth' and the 'bumpy to the sandy'.  Everything goes! Boules Abroad Eileen and Tom chancing our arm with the 'locals'.  Won one and lost two. 'Shooting' was the difference!! Thursday 19th May.  Larry introduces some of his pals from Baldoyle to the game....I recognise Tony, Noel and Colm there. Doubles Matchplay 2022 The Doubles Matchplay is attracting many spectators, especially the later evening games in the nice weather.  Some great games with lead switching often and some of the matches going to the third game. Ciaran's App is working well with the matches and results being posted promptly so everyone is up to date.  This is a selection of photos from recent games. 2022   Q1 Singles Matchplay Finals  Congratulations to all the participants and particularly the finalists in the three tier finals that were postponed from last Sunday but played in lovely weather conditions today. Tier  3:     Ann Wilson v Sean Jenkins                Winner:      Ann Tier 2:    Denis Breheny v Tom Buckley        Winner:    Tom  Tier 1:    Chris Grehan v Shay Coyne             Winner:    Shay Congratulations to Shay, the Perpetual Trophy Winner for Q1 Single Matchplay 2022.   Shay had to weather the early lead garnered by Chris to gradually ease himself past the post in a very tight contest.   All the fine efforts in each final were applauded by the enthralled spectators.   Thanks to Ciaran for organising the prizes and presenting them to...
