100th Post ...... A Century of Posts!

The Matchplay Competition is nearing completion.  The games are being keenly contested and watched by increasingly large audiences.  The one-game knockout stages are proving to be a knockout!

One pair, Joan and Charlie, have reached the semi-finals.  The quarter-final pairings after play today are:

Shay Coyne / Maureen Deane  v  James Rowland / Rose McDonnell

Larry Breheny /  Marie Doherty  v  Ciaran Walsh  / Gerty Gilbert

John O'Connor  /  Agnes Graham  v  Jimmy Quill  /  Noel Kelly

Keep checking the Matchplay App and try to attend, if your free.  The crack is mighty....except for the players!!  Some people have small wagers on some of these pairings but let that not influence proceedings!  Thanks Ciaran for the Bracket and work behind the scenes.

Standing Stones Update:

Despite the best efforts of Storm Barra some of the makeshift barrier remains.. The Sculptor / Artist is due onsite next Wednesday / Thursday to complete the works.  Down to the wire!

The official opening ceremony will take place on Monday 20th Dec, in the presence of Fingal Mayor, Seana O Rodaigh and other dignitaries from 3.45 p.m.  It is not being widely advertised because of Covid restrictions but boules players are welcome to attend.

Already a number of the Boules Community have offered assistance with the lighting up ceremony, marshalling and manning the mulled wine / mince pie station [ oversubscribed!]

Alden Park Boules Pistes Drainage Works!

Following an extensive tendering process the works were undertaken by Buckley & Donnellan Enterprises.  An array of tools [ not us. I hasten to add! ] were employed and the efficacy of the remedial works will be tested across the winter.  Needless to say the pictures below are not since our works!!!!
