76th Post .... Singles Competition well under way.

Ciaran has kindly provided me with the Results to date for Group 1 and Group 2.  You can check developments here and check who you still have to play.  The WhatsApp site is working very well with fixtures being arranged off site and being sent in for slot allocation.  When a slot is already taken you are informed and can rearrange.  The prompt relay of results in the short form is working well also.  Try to keep this App free for match details only.  Use the Groups Apps for humorous texts etc.

You can see the table below with the Group stats to date.  As in all Competitions there are winners and losers but, as far as I can see, defeats and victories are being accepted graciously.

59 of 210 matches are complete at close of play today so we're ahead of schedule.

27 of 30 players have paid the fee so far, thank you to those that have. The trophy research has started!

Some photos from our Singles Competition.  It is running very efficiently thanks to the players and especially for Ciaran manning the timetable and results sheet.

In the photos below they slipped down the masks for the sake of identification and modesty!.

Masks are still obligatory for our competition.  We will review at the end of this competition and we will be guided by HSE guidelines.

With a few absentees we should manage to finish the competition ahead of schedule.  Last fees to Ciaran or a committee member.

We will try to include some rules in the blog, as we are improving, so we need to be more familiar with the rules of the game e.g.

Article 17, Behaviour of players and spectators during a game

During the regulation time allowed for a player to throw a boule, one minute, the spectators and players should observe courteous silence.

The opponents must not walk, nor gesticulate nor do anything that could disturb the player about to play. Only his or her team-mate/s may remain between the throwing circle and the jack.

The opponents must remain beyond the jack or behind the player and, in both cases, to the side with regard to the direction of play and at a distance of at least 2 metres the one from the other.

Ciaran and I met with a couple of players from Skerries in Alden Park recently. They are playing in a small area in Skerries and they were interested to see our facility with a view to expansion in their town possibly near Skerries Mills.  Proximity to toilets and a coffee shop are two of their priorities.
