67th Post....Seconds Out!
The pool stages of the very successful Singles Matchplay are now complete. Thanks to Ciaran's expertise sixty pool matches were completed in a fortnight using his computer skills.
Thirty players were allocated to six groups of five, each players playing the other group members to allow for a greater amount of play before the knockout stages.
Below is the complete pool stage bracket providing the six pool winners and two best runners-up to complete the quarter finals:

The committee met last Sunday and the decisions are outlined below:
Sunday:                 08-11-20               at Boules Pistes
Present:               TD, ED, AG, CG, CoD, CW
Decisions:
·
Try
to finish off the successful Singles Matchplay by the end of next week
15-11-20.
Mon., Tues., Wed. for Quarter Finals       Thurs.,
Fri for Semi-finals.             Sat., Sun
for Final
Weather permitting!
·
We
are aware that players, who were not involved in the Matchplay, were not aware
of the timetable slots that were free.
We will rectify that anomaly for next week onwards.
·
The
Knockout matches to be timetabled by Ciaran.
Other slots will be available for casual play during the week. Only 4
players at as time on the pistes, in any event.
No spectators.  Presentation after
Final of voucher [ new trophy to follow later – a separate perpetual trophy for
the Singles Matchplay].  Socially distanced
spectators for presentation after the final is possible.  Gather near the end of the match and disperse
after the presentation.
·
We
will have 4 Matchplay competitions in 2021 [Quarterly].  Two doubles and two singles
across the year.  This is in addition to
our ordinary Monday Competition [ Covid restrictions permitting]
·
Group
B may decide to have their own competition.
Group B will have a member added to  the ad hoc BBC committee.  Group B representatives will be responsible
for returning the gear to the store after play.
Group B will be asked to contribute a nominal fee of €15 towards the running costs of the B.B.C. for 2021
as was the case for the Group A members, previously.
·
Group C is
beginning to be formed.  There are plans
for a Group D.  All groups will have the
ideal of a 16-player limit.
·
For the
remainder of November, we will have casual play – no competition.  Only 4 players at a time playing.  You can arrange a match with someone and book
a slot online.  This will be sorted by
the end of next week.
·
Sundays will
be for Open / Casual play for non-BBC players.
If you want to have a game on Sunday, please abide by the Covid
restrictions even though other visitors may not.
·
If the
restrictions are relaxed for December, we may return to group play with masks
and social distancing.
·
We will plan
for an event on the French National Holiday – July 14th – and
hopefully the virus restrictions will have relaxed by then.
·
We might have
a restricted Christmas Event, if Covid allows.
·
The local
primary school, Bayside SNS has started to use the facility as per timetable
and have notified the parent body of their intention.  This may generate other users.
·
As we have
Insurance cover under the banner of Bayside Community Association we intend to
contribute €2 per paid-up player as our contribution to their premium.
·
We have
applied for a small grant under the government ‘Age and Opportunity funding’.  We are awaiting the outcome.
·
There is a
proposal for a modern re-imagining of an ancient, standing stones sculptural
installation, using recycled materials, near the boules pistes.  It is grant-aided by Creative Ireland [
supporting artists] with Fingal Co. Co. currently deliberating.  Watch this space.
Nearby
residents will be informed by flyer when permission comes through from Fingal.
