139th Post: Great numbers for start of 2025....the New Pistes being well used.

N.B.      Our thoughts and prayers are with those indisposed at present. BBC AGM - Monday 13th Jan in the Bayside Community Centre from 7:30 p.m.: Twenty three members attended and the business-like meeting discussed the progress of last year and plans for 2025.  The Committee [ Chris / Chair; Ciarán / Treasurer and Match Sec. ; Tom D / Sec; Anne D and Dirk were re-elected en masse and wished well in our plans for the coming year.  Ciarán had slides for each aspect of the meeting which were projected onto a screen for the attendees.  We noted that we would ask for support for events as required. Some outcomes: €20 membership fee continuing in 2025 Payment of IPA Membership/Insurance at full rate this year Quarterly Competition to continue. Matchplay and Club Competitions to be reinstated on gradual basis Grants: Capital and Current being applied for Social Boules in various guises to continue e.g. Friday Nights in Summer etc. Primary and Secondary school li...

Happy Christmas to All in Bayside Boules Club a Healthy and Happy 2025 Season Upcoming AGM in Bayside Community Centre on Monday 13th January 7:30 p.m. More information to follow via the group WhatsApp..........please put the date in your diary....... Monday Competition: Today, 23-12-24, was the final day of the Monday Competition.    Congratulations Larry .  Larry will receive the much sought-after trophy at the 1st event of the next season. He was in pole position before play today and cemented his dominance of this iteration.  His consistency in 'pointing' and willingness to 'shoot' accurately, when required, placed him at the top of the pile.   Michael, John and Agnes were in the chasing group.  Next time folks! A new Competition will commence in January 2025 and is open to all.  It is very enjoyable and the format lends itself to a sociable ensemble with three games each session and partners chosen by lot.  Our thanks to Ciarán for ...

137th Post: Cavan Pétanque Club visit to Bayside Boules Club

BBC  v  CPC Sunday 3rd November in Alden Park: The outstanding rematch between Cavan and Bayside took place in murky but dry weather in Alden Park yesterday.  Cavan originally expected to have 18 players but their numbers fell to 13 on the day.  Bayside had 27 players on our list and that dwindled also, but able replacements showed up on the day. CPC were treated to refreshments in the BCC and greeted by Eileen D, Eileen O'B, Mary G, Agnes G and Kathryn O'D from the BBC.  They were able to have tea/coffee and sandwiches and use the facilities before decanting to Alden Park.  Our thanks to the ladies who did the 'meet and greet'.  The sandwiches were provided by Perfect Day Café courtesy of the €5 collected from each BBC player on the day.   They arrived well before the scheduled time and were at Alden shortly after noon.  They practiced for a half hour and then we commenced play with the BBC teams being rejigged due to the earlier start....
